We are Kim and Steven and both share one vision. The vision of a self built and planted life, for us and the people.

It was clear for us that this will be happening in Central America. After years of searching we both agreed on one of the places we had visited. The first attempt was the potential renovation of a coffee farm in the jungle of the state of Oaxaca Mexico. Sadly there were too many unchecked boxes after looking at it closely...

Time passed and we got to learn about the existence of this man living and working in the Brazilian forest. He actually had created that very same forest by planting each tree from seed. His name is Ernst Götsch and he practices Syntropic Agroforestry. We went to Brazil to learn about his practices so that we could apply the same principles to our own future project. We practiced Agroforestry in other farms during the trip and fell in love with the nearby village and surroundings of one of them...

Fast forward to now; the idea is the following:

We want to develop a project in Serra Grande, combining artistic residency and environmental preservation. Inspired by our experience with syntropic agriculture on various farms around the world, including Ernst’s project, we want to enhance the value of art while promoting sustainable land management.

The project includes :

- An artistic residence welcoming local and international creators, offering specialised workshops, adapted work spaces and comfortable accommodation.

- A syntropic agriculture system to regenerate soil, diversify crops and protect biodiversity.

- Educational workshops on the environment with local schools to involve the community, with priority given to young people.

Aurora aims to boost local culture and inspire the world while becoming a model of regenerative agriculture. The fundings will be used to purchase the land, farm equipment, prepare the infrastructure (studios, accommodation) and pay the workers. The aim of the project is to provide a space for reflection, collaboration and transmission around art and nature, while proposing innovative solutions for the future.
